The Heart Behind the Lens

I'm Esther — photographer, mum of two incredible boys, and the heart behind Tejega Photography. My husband and I founded this studio in Edmonton, Alberta with one simple belief: every family deserves beautiful, culturally rich photographs that truly reflect who they are.

"We didn't just start a photography business. We built something meaningful — named after our sons Tejiri and Tega, rooted in our heritage, and built for families like ours."

As a Black-owned, diaspora-rooted studio we specialise in portraits that celebrate your culture, your milestones and your story — from the very first days of life to the moments that mark a lifetime.

My youngest son spent his early weeks in the NICU. We didn't get the traditional newborn shoot at 7 days old. We did ours at 2 months adjusted age — and it was perfect. Every single frame.

To the NICU parents, the preemie parents, the parents who feel like they missed the window — you didn't. Your baby's story is just as beautiful. Just as worthy. And we will capture it exactly where you are.

Sessions for NICU and premature babies are lovingly accommodated based on adjusted age, at a completely relaxed and unhurried pace. No rush. No pressure. Ever. 🖤
